Publishing ULO, Minister of Communication and Informatics: Indonesia Will Soon Enter the 5G Era<\/strong><\/p>\n

Indonesia will soon enter a new era of modern 5G telecommunications technology. Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G. Plate stated that the Ministry of Communications and Informatics has issued a Certificate of Operation Eligibility (SKLO) for 5G Services to PT Telkomsel.<\/p>\n

“On May 21, 2021 yesterday, the Ministry of Communications and Informatics through the Directorate General of Post and Information Technology (PPI) The issuance of the SKLO for one of these cellular operators marks a significant development (milestone) in the effort to deploy 5G technology in Indonesia,” he explained in a press conference on the start of the event. Implementation of the 5G Cellular Mobile Network Based on IMT-2020 (International Mobile Telecommunications-2020) Technology in the 2300 MHz Frequency Band in Indonesia from the Media Center of the Ministry of Communications and Informatics, Jakarta, Monday (24\/05\/2021).<\/p>\n

According to the Minister of Communication and Information, the issuance of the SKLO is based on the implementation of the Operational Feasibility Test (ULO) on the 19th to the 19th. May 20, 2021. Based on the results of the ULO, PT Telkomsel was declared \u201cLAIK\u201d. Minister Johnny explained that during the ULO stage, the Ministry of Communications and Informatics carried out technical testing of PT Telkomsel’s facilities and infrastructure to deploy the 5G network.<\/p>\n

“The issuance of the SKLO signifies the success of PT Telkomsel’s preparations to deploy a 5G network, which in particular will be carried out in the 2,300 MHz or 2.3 GHz frequency band, with a bandwidth of 30 MHz in the range of 2,300 MHz to 2,330 MHz,” he explained.<\/p>\n

The ULO stage and the issuance of SKLO are carried out based on the mandate of Article 4 of the Minister of Communication and Informatics Regulation Number 5 of 2021 concerning Telecommunications Operations, which is a derivative regulation of Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation and Government Regulation Number 46 of 2021 concerning Post, Telecommunications, and Broadcasting. (Postelsia).<\/p>\n

“Therefore, based on this regulation, the stages of ULO and SKLO ownership are mandatory for every Telecommunication Operator who wants to expand the network due to technological changes that occur,” explained the Minister of Communication and Information.<\/p>\n

Minister Johnny stated that 5G technology is included in the new technology changes based on the International Mobile Telecommunication-2020 (IMT-2020) specification through the determination by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).<\/p>\n

“Along with the submission of the SKLO from the Ministry of Communications and Informatics today, PT Telkomsel will become the first 5G Telecommunication Network Operator in Indonesia,” he said.<\/p>\n

This 5G service from Telkomsel will be launched simultaneously on 27 May 2021 and will then be able to be enjoyed in a limited and gradual manner at 6 (six) residential locations in the Greater Jakarta area, as well as in other cities such as Solo, Medan, Balikpapan, Denpasar, Batam. , Surabaya, Makassar, and Bandung.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Communications and Informatics hopes that the implementation of 5G technology in Indonesia can further realize more equitable access to telecommunications, bridge the digital divide, improve people’s ability and literacy to use technology more adaptively.<\/p>\n

“And also encourage more productive use of the internet to strengthen national economic growth,” he hoped.<\/p>\n

Therefore, Minister Johnny invited telecommunications operators to be part of the acceleration of 5G implementation in Indonesia. “Therefore, we encourage other telecommunication providers to be able to participate in accelerating the implementation of 5G in Indonesia, and together we welcome a Connected, More Digital, More Advanced Indonesia,” he said.<\/p>\n

The event was also attended by the Director General of Post and Information Technology, Ahmad M. Ramli; Director General of Resources and Equipment for Post and Information Technology, Ismail, Inspector General Doddy Setiadji, President Director of PT Telkomsel, Setyanto Hantoro and officials from the Ministry of Communications and Informatics and Telkomsel as well as journalists by implementing strict health protocols.<\/p>\n
