Jakarta, Kominfo \u2013 The Ministry of Communication and Information has divided the frequency allocation for the 5G cellular telecommunications network into three telecommunication layers, namely Low Band, Middle Band, and High Band. The division is carried out for equal distribution and service efficiency.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese three layers are at different frequencies. For the lower band (Low Band), the frequency is below 1 GHz, suitable for equal coverage because it is very efficient, the coverage is very wide and for urban areas it is very useful for interpenetration,” explained the Coordinator of Spectrum Allocation Arrangement for the Fixed and Land Mobile Service, Directorate General of Resources and Postal Equipment. and Informatics Ministry of Communications and Informatics, Adis Alifiawan in the Discussion of the 9th Merdeka Barat Forum (FMB9) \u201cIndonesia Forward with 5G\u201d, from the Media Center Room of Kominfo, Jakarta, Monday (07\/06\/2021).<\/p>\n
According to Coordinator Adis Alifiawan, a frequency band below 1 GHz can also be a solution if the signal is not good when people enter a public area or building. Then, the second layer (Middle Band) is between the frequencies of 1 to 6 GHz.<\/p>\n
“Here, what we currently enjoy for 5G in Indonesia now, one of which is from Telkomsel, which is already commercial, which uses 2.3 GHz. So, the Middle Band is actually the middle. The coverage capacity is also bigger than the Low Band one,” he said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, in the high band, the frequencies are 2.6 GHz and 2.8 GHz. Adis explained that compared to the other two layers, the top-frequency band has several advantages, such as the 5G telecommunication network being more responsive with a latency of 1 millimeter per second with a pick data rate of up to 20 Gbps.<\/p>\n
“Indeed there has never been before in the 4G generation and below, only in 5G. This is the difference, ideally cellular operators have it all, so that the services offered to the public have a broad spectrum. So, Opsel can provide various services and use cases,\u201d said the Coordinator for Spectrum Allocation for the Fixed and Mobile Service.<\/p>\n
Adis Alifiawan stated that, in principle, currently only Telkomsel has obtained a Certificate of Operation Worthiness (SKLO) from the Ministry of Communication and Information on May 24, 2021.<\/p>\n
“Last week, another cellular operator, namely Indosat, was in the process of Operation Feasibility Test (ULO) and is currently still in the process of finalizing its determination and we hope that other cellular operators will also follow suit so that Indonesia immediately takes off for its 5G. this,” he said.<\/p>\n
