A number of tourist attractions in the Atambua border area, precisely in Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara have been closed for months to the public in the face of the Covid-19 Emergency. Now it can be said, starting to gradually re-open. Although, not all tourist attractions, and it still worries the people around the tourist area.

Elias, a resident of Maudemu Village, Lamaknen District, asked the Belu Regional Government through the Belu Tourism Office to temporarily close tourist attractions.

“Actually, the Tourism Office closed the Padang Fulan Fehan tourist visit first. Because this is very disturbing for the people of Maudemu village, because of this virus, people don’t know who is coming,” Elias told RRI in Belu, NTT, Thursday (4/6/2020).

According to him, this is because the implementation of the “New Order of Life” or the new normal has not been implemented. Moreover, when referring to the circular letter of the East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government, the new normal will take effect as of Monday, June 15, 2020.

“People who come to visit from various regions in NTT. And, it could also be from outside the region, going to a number of mountainous natural tourist sites in the Lamaknen area through a number of village entrances,” he asserted.

Elias admitted that he was very worried that the Covid-19 emergency could not end quickly from NTT.

“People here are very careful. Moreover, yesterday when in Kupang there was already a positive corona, he was even more vigilant. Moreover, many people will come from outside NTT, think about it, people are worried,” Elias denounced.
