Indonesian Ministry of Tourism Holds Wonderful Indonesia Festival at Mota’ain PLBN

The tourism potential in the cross-border area in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT)-Timor Leste is very high. This potential was well read by the Ministry of Tourism by holding 12 Wonderful Indonesia Festival Events to attract tourist visits and improve the economy of border communities.

The activity was held at the Motaain State Border Crossing Post (PLBN), Belu Regency, Wini PLBN, North Central Timor and Motamasin PLBN Malacca Regency, Saturday (17/8/2019).

The Deputy for Management of Potential Border Areas at the National Border Management Agency (BNPP) of the Republic of Indonesia, Boytenjuri, expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Tourism, for holding an event in the border area.

This is considered good because the potential of border communities can be developed so that the community’s economy can increase.

It is said that the potential of the region has not been developed optimally, in Belu the potential of the agricultural, livestock and tourism sectors if managed properly will improve the welfare of the community.

“I hope that with the Woderful Indonesia Festival event there will be an economic impact for SMEs who open booths at this event so that people also feel the impact of the development that has been carried out by the government,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Marketing for Area II Regional III, Deputy for Marketing I of the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, Hendry Noviardi, in addition to the crossborder festival music concert, his party also held the Wonderful Indonesia Festival by combining music performances and a bazaar. The bazaar is attended by SMEs, so that the economy in the border areas is increasing.

He added that there were 20 booths prepared at the Wonderful Indonesia Festival at Mota’ain PLBN. The target is that the people of Timor Leste who pass by can shop at the existing booths, so that market activity in the border areas is revived.

“The Wonderful Indonesia Festival which will be held at PLBN Mota’ain will last until August 18 2019, which will be exhibited with a band performance, then similar events will also be held at PLBN Wini and Motamasin,” he explained.

The Wonderful Indonesia Festival at Mota’an PLBN will be continued on 31 August-1 September 14-15, 24-25 September, 2-3 October, and 12-13 October, Wini PLBN August 24-25, 21-22 September 28-29 and October 5-6, at Motamasin September 6-7 and October 9-10.
