Politeknik Pariwisata Makassar menyelenggarakan pembekalan bagi enam mahasiswa terpilih yang akan mengikuti Apprentice Program (PKN) Batch I di perusahaan kapal pesiar internasional, Carnival Cruise Line, USA. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada Senin, 23 Juni 2025 dan dibuka secara resmi oleh Direktur Poltekpar Makassar.<\/p>\n

Dalam sambutannya, beliau menyampaikan bahwa peserta program harus memiliki kesiapan mental, kemampuan bahasa Inggris yang mumpuni, serta kondisi fisik yang prima. “Jam kerja mereka nanti mencapai 10 jam per hari. Ini bukan hanya soal kemampuan, tetapi soal daya tahan, keteguhan hati, dan profesionalisme,” tegasnya.<\/p>\n

Direktur juga mengingatkan pentingnya menjaga sikap dalam lingkungan kerja multikultural, menghindari pembicaraan sensitif seperti politik, serta senantiasa mematuhi regulasi yang berlaku\u2014baik aturan dari kampus, negara tempat mereka berada, maupun peraturan internal kapal tempat mereka bertugas.<\/p>\n

Program magang ini menjadi tonggak sejarah karena untuk pertama kalinya mahasiswa Poltekpar Makassar diberangkatkan secara resmi ke Amerika Serikat untuk menjalani program pemagangan. \u201cKalau alumni yang bekerja di luar negeri itu sudah biasa. Tapi kalau magang ke luar, terutama ke USA, ini adalah yang pertama. Harapannya tentu ada batch berikutnya,\u201d ungkap Direktur.<\/p>\n

Enam mahasiswa yang mengikuti program ini akan mulai on board secara bertahap mulai awal Juli 2025. Mereka akan ditempatkan di berbagai kapal milik Carnival Cruise Line, di antaranya Carnival Glory, Carnival Freedom, dan Carnival Panorama, dengan pelabuhan pemberangkatan di Canaveral, Florida dan Long Beach, California. Para peserta berasal dari Program Studi Seni Kuliner dan telah melalui proses seleksi ketat serta memenuhi seluruh dokumen dan pelatihan yang disyaratkan.<\/p>\n

Program ini terselenggara melalui kerja sama dengan TopKarir Global, mitra resmi Carnival Cruise Line di Indonesia. Selain membuka akses pengalaman kerja internasional, program ini memberikan manfaat finansial, pengembangan keterampilan, hingga peluang jaringan global yang sangat berharga bagi mahasiswa.<\/p>\n

THE ORIENTATION OF APPRENTICE PROGRAMME (PKN) BATCH I AT CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE, USA<\/strong><\/p>\n

Politeknik Pariwisata (Poltekpar) Makassar has conducted a preparatory briefing for six selected students who will participate in the Batch I of Apprentice Programme (PKN) at Carnival Cruise Line, an international cruise company based in the United States. The session took place on Monday, 23rd<\/sup> June 2025, and was officially opened by the Director of Poltekpar Makassar.<\/p>\n

In his opening remarks, the Director emphasised that participants must be mentally prepared, possess a strong command of the English language, and maintain excellent physical condition.<\/p>\n

\u201cTheir working hours will reach up to 10 hours per day. This is not merely a test of ability, but one of endurance, resilience, and professionalism,\u201d he stated firmly.<\/p>\n

He also reminded the students of the importance of maintaining professional conduct in a multicultural work environment, avoiding sensitive topics such as politics, and consistently complying with all applicable regulations\u2014whether issued by the institution, the host country, or the cruise line itself.<\/p>\n

This apprenticeship marks a historic milestone, as it is the first time that Poltekpar Makassar students are being officially sent to the United States for an internship placement.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s common for our alumni to work abroad. But sending students overseas for an internship\u2014especially to the USA\u2014is a first. We certainly hope this will be the beginning of many more batches to come,\u201d the Director added.<\/p>\n

The six participating students will begin boarding progressively from early July 2025. They will be assigned to various Carnival Cruise Line ships, including Carnival Glory, Carnival Freedom, and Carnival Panorama, with embarkation points in Port Canaveral, Florida, and Long Beach, California. All participants are from the Culinary Arts Study Programme, and were selected through a rigorous process, having fulfilled all required documentation and training.<\/p>\n

This programme is made possible through a collaboration with TopKarir Global, Carnival Cruise Line\u2019s official partner in Indonesia. In addition to providing international work experience, the initiative offers financial benefits, skill development, and valuable global networking opportunities for students.
