Minister of Communication and Information Discusses 5G Technology Development Cooperation with Qualcomm at Davos
Davos, Kominfo – On the third day of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, the Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G Plate held a meeting with Qualcomm President Cristiano Amon.
The meeting which took place at the Indonesian Pavilion discussed a number of things, including exploring cooperation in the development of 5G technology. Qualcomm is one of the global technology companies that are doing various digital technology innovations.
“We are interested in supporting the development of 5G technology in Indonesia. More than that, we want to increase cooperation in various fields with the Indonesian government,” hoped Cristiano Amon.
Minister Johnny said that Indonesia had a great opportunity and was preparing to become a digital hub in the Asian region. “One of the keys to being at the forefront of the digital era is infrastructure readiness, including by strengthening connectivity through 5G technology.” explained the Minister of Communications and Informatics.
Responding to the offer of cooperation, the Minister of Communications and Informatics emphasized that his party is open to cooperation in order to support Indonesia’s national interests, for example in the initiative to build a new capital.
The same thing was conveyed by Minister Johnny when receiving AWS VP Global Public Policy Michael Punke. During the meeting, the two sides discussed several crucial issues such as the realization of AWS’ investment plans in Indonesia, personal data protection, and AWS support for Indonesia’s digital economy. Again, the Minister of Communications and Informatics emphasized that every cooperation must always bring added value to Indonesia.
The meeting with the two global technology giants was the closing agenda for a number of marathon meetings held by the Minister of Communication and Information at the WEF 2020. Director General of Information and Public Communication of the Ministry of Communications and Informatics, Widodo Muktiyo, said that throughout the implementation of the 2020 World Economic Forum, the Government of Indonesia had received a lot of positive results.
“This activity in Davos has been very effective. All ministers who came did a series of negotiations and lobbying with partners, both between countries and also between companies and hopefully this can be a new chapter of the growth of the technology-based Indonesian economy and become our strength to achieve the targets set at Davos 2020. ,” explained Widodo Muktiyo. *
