Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) ensures that the new capital city will become a smart city, supported by 5G technology.
The Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G. Plate said that currently the implementation of 5G in the country is still only a trial. The government plans to deliver 5G in three frequency bands, namely low, middle and upper frequency bands.
Just a note, for low frequencies, the spectrum provided previously was at 700 MHz. As for the middle frequency, there are two choices, namely 2.6 GHz and 3.5 GHz. As for high frequencies, the government is setting up 26 GHz as an additional frequency.
“Currently we are giving operators the opportunity for trials, at the same time we are also setting up special frequencies for 5G at the lower, middle, and higher band layers,” Johnny said in Jakarta, Friday (17/1/2020).
As for the telecommunications infrastructure in the new capital cities – Penajam Paser Utara and Kutai Kertanegara – the most advanced technology is being prepared to support the nation’s capital city into a smart city, including using 5G technology.
In fact, Johnny hopes that the implementation of 5G can be realized in Indonesia before the New Capital City officially operates.
“5G should be implemented at the latest in the nation’s capital, but previously it will also be done for some real estate industries that can use 5G,” said Johnny.
