Jakarta, Kominfo – The government will expand its 5G cellular quality telecommunications network to four strategic areas. So that people in the related areas can optimally take advantage of the opportunities that exist through the above network.
The areas referred to include areas with growing market demand, priority destination areas, manufacturing industry locations, and the New State Capital.
“Expanding in the not too distant future, including to priority destination areas such as Lake Toba in North Sumatra, Borobudur in Central Java, Mandalika in NTB, Labuan Bajo in NTT, Likupang in North Sulawesi, and other areas in 2024,” said the Minister of Communications. and Informatics, Johnny G. Plate in the results of the Indosat Ooredoo 5G Feasibility Test which took place virtually from the Communications and Informatics Media Center, Jakarta, Monday (14/06/2021).
The existence of a quality telecommunications network in the area, according to the Minister of Communication and Information, will provide services that support various productive activities carried out by the community. So, the people there can use technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and Big data. “Can provide services to support the industry in the future,” he said.
According to Minister Johnny, the Government has allocated frequencies that can be used for basic connectivity, mobile broadband speed, and superdata layer. “Which is located on the 26, 28 and 39 GHz frequency spectrum, including for fixed broadband services,” he said.
According to the Minister of Communication and Informatics, the use of this allocation is expected to support cellular telecommunications service operators in implementing a neutral policy. “What it means is that cellular operators are not tied to a certain type of technology. That way, they have the opportunity to choose a neutral technology that is suitable with business considerations and the conditions of the relevant telecommunications company. Neutral technology that is suitable for business considerations and the circumstances in their respective environments,” he explained. .
At the same time, Minister Johnny stated that his party was conducting an even distribution of 4G cellular quality telecommunications throughout the country. “In the next few years, Kominfo will massively build telecommunications infrastructure, starting from Base Transceiver Stations (BTS), fiber optic networks, to satellites,” he said.
The completion of the construction will allow all regions to enjoy 4G quality networks. Thus, every resident everywhere can access the digital space for various productive activities.
“Hopefully we can further realize more equitable telecommunication access that bridges the digital divide,” hoped the Minister of Communication and Informatics.
